Hi, commenting to say I love your blog and contributions to the reddit community. Your Shoes don't need to look like feet to be healthy article is a gem, unfortunately comments are turned off but thank you so much for doing the research and I loved the diagrams as well.

Thank you! That means a lot. I used to be staunchly in the foot-shaped shoe camp but as I learned more about shoemaking theory, I realized I had been wearing shoes that were too small for most of my life. The toe box on most conventional shoes is too symmetrical and does push the toes in, but a lot of barefoot shoe brands seem to go too far in the other direction (in my opinion). I'd like to see a happy medium where brands make shoes that respect the foot, while also combining some design elements of conventional footwear to make something more elegant looking.

I had turned comments off on my more "controversial" articles but I went ahead and turned them on.

Agreed, I have narrow feet and ankles so with a lot of the barefoot shoes my feet would just be slipping in them. Crazy that healthy footwear (that aren't vibrams) is still a largely new market, humans have just been suffering spinal/hip/knee/posture issues for the longest time without realizing the problem has been at their feet the whole time. I guess the best option is to invest in custom-made footwear as ancient humans did.
